  1. Man Kills His Mother, Makes Love To Her Corpse For Money Ritual

    Men of the Edo State Police Command have arrested a 21-year old man, Samuel Emobor Oghenekporboro, for allegedly killing his mother and making love to her corpse several times for money ritual.
    His 58 years old mother identified as Mrs. Christiana Ighoyivwi was said to have been strangulated at their residence at 8B, Market road, Ologbo Community along Benin- Sapele road in Ikpoba-Okha local government area.
    It was gathered that an herbalist had told the suspect that money would fall from heaven while making love with his mother’s corpse.
    Sources said it was a grandmother of the suspect, Mrs. Maria Gabriel, that caught him having sex with the corpse.
    She was at the residence at about 6 am to invite her late daughter to a nearby church for morning prayers when she caught the suspect.
    The old woman was said to have knocked repeatedly on her daughter’s (victim) door but nobody responded and raised an alarm after peeing through the door.
    The suspects who opened the door and attempted to escape was held by neighbors who handed him over to the police.
    Sources said semen-stained pants belonging to the suspect and his late mother were recovered from the room as exhibits by the police.
    It was gathered that the suspect told interrogators that he thought money would rain from heaven after killing his mother and making love to her.
    The spokesman for Edo Police Command, DSP Chidi Nwabuzor, said an investigation was ongoing saying the suspect would be arraigned soon.

  3. Man Banished From Edo For Disrespecting Oba Of Benin On Facebook

    A Germany-based man known as Murphy Idahosa has been banished from Edo state for disrespecting the Oba of Benin Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II on social media. Idahosa had allegedly shared a video on Facebook where he blamed the Oba for the high rate of trafficking of girls in the Benin Kingdom.
    This comes months after Benin chief, Dr. Oguigo, was reportedly humiliated and labeled an enemy of the land for not paying homage to the Oba of Benin.
    Facebook user, Chuks Mgborie-Chukwu, who shared the video on his timeline, said a curse was placed on the chief at the Oba of Benin Palace. On the day the decree was made, the chief was also ostracized.

  5. 13-Year-Old Girl Raped By Uncle And Son Finally Buried Amid Tears (Photos)

    The remains of Ochanya Ogbanje, a 13 year old girl who was Raped to death by her aunt’s husband, Andrew Ogbuja, and his son Victor, were yesterday, laid to rest amidst tears, in her hometown, Ogene Amejo Okpokwu local government area of Benue State.
    Speaking after the burial, a group under the aegis of Concerned Citizens For Ochanya, commended the thorough, transparent and unbiased investigation into the matter by the police and other related agencies, as well as the publishing of the actual facts.
    The group, however, called for the speedy, diligent and fair prosecution of the case to ensure that justice was served to all parties involved.
    The group also requested that, the suspect, Andrew Ogbuja, should immediately be suspended from carrying out his official duties as a lecturer and head of the department in the Benue State Polytechnic, pending the outcome of the investigation into his complicity in the case.
    They also requested that the wife of the suspect, Mrs Felicia Ogbuja, be invited for questioning over her role, either by commission or omission, in the matter.

    While appealing to the Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom, to immortalise the late  Elizabeth Ochanya Ogbanje as a martyr of child Rape, sexual molestation and abuse to discourage future act of abuse, neglect and exploitation of children, the group also called on the government to also compensate her family members to mitigate the trauma of the painful loss.
    “The Benue State House of Assembly should also intensify efforts to pass the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Act (2015). We also call for  a thorough review of the Judicial System to protect the rights of children against Rape and sexual molestation.”
