  5. This is a polling unit in Sokoto North were a supplementary election is expected to take place today 23rd March 2019. As early as 7am , women, including nursing mothers were seen on the queue, struggling to maintain their position while waiting for inec officials to arrive. Note, INEC officials are yet to appear. During my undergraduate days at the University of Maiduguri Borno State, Same scenario applies. Our Northern, Mostly Muslim brothers and sisters will arrive at the polling unit very early enough waiting to caste their votes during Students Union Government Elections. Northern ,Southern Christain Sisters and brothers Campaign the most on Campus, Argue and Analyse the most , but mostly drag their feets to the polling units on election day. Most of them arrive late to polling units, a good number end up not voting due to late arrival, while others continue to procasinate and not showing up at the polling unit at all . The above scenario equally applies in the South of Nigeria especially in the South East of Nigeria. We talk, talk , and talk , we complain and complain, we argue and argue, we take over the media space arguing yet we fail to participate actively in the voting process that shapes our lives. A process that determines our economic, social , cultural and political life. Most of us in the South East claim to be more knowledgeable, smarter , very intelligent, very sharp, yet we do not understand the common sense of Political Power , what a people, what an Irony . This is 7am and women across Sokoto and other parts of Northern Nigeria are ready to vote . Can this be said of our people? Photo Credit : TVC News Comrade S.O.B Igwe 23/03/2019

  7. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has been barred from investigating a private jet loaded with money on February 15, 2019, the eve of the aborted presidential and National Assembly elections, Saturday PUNCH learned on Friday. Our correspondent gathered that the plane which was billed to fly to Ilorin, Kwara State, from Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos failed to take off due to the weight of the money on board. Multiple sources said the EFCC operatives thereafter stormed the plane after a tip-off from some people about the cargo. They demanded the source of the money, its owner and destination. The crew was said to have informed the operatives that the money was meant for election expenses in Kwara State, but the detectives reportedly insisted on taking away the cash haul. Our sources said, “The EFCC operatives interrogated the crew and they claimed they were part of the government. They also gave a code which they assumed the operatives would understand, but the detectives insisted on taking away the money. “However, a phone call came from the Presidential Villa ordering them to hands off the matter and clear off from the scene. Shortly after, armed soldiers took over the scene and the money was transferred into another plane which took off by 10pm that night.”
  8. All Progressives Congress, APC leader Asiwaju Bola Tinubu yesterday gave marching order to the party’s chieftains in Lagos State to deliver maximum votes for the party, failing which they would be stripped of their positions. Lamenting their poor delivery in Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections, the party leader warned that nobody, including the chairman of the state chapter of the party, Alhaji Tunde Balogun was indispensable. Speaking to stakeholders after a closed-door meeting with members of the Governor’s Advisory Council, GAC, at the secretariat of the Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Independent Campaign Group, BOS-ICG, in Ikeja GRA, he lambasted party chiefs for failing to deliver maximally for APC at last Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly polls. He said the party’s strong membership did not show in last weekend’s election. Warning that any chieftain of the party who failed to attain in its mandate would be shown the red card. “Please, don’t praise me, I don’t need your praises, after the poor performance you all put up at the presidential and National Assembly elections in the state,” the national leader was quoted as saying. “It showed that most of the chieftains and council chairmen did not mobilize the grassroots after all the support from the party. “I will not condone this act any further. Party leaders and council chairmen who fail to perform to expectation at the next governorship and House of Assembly polls on March 9, should be ready to resign or face the music. “We have over three million registered APC members and yet the performance last Saturday was poor. “The chairman of the state party, (Babatunde Balongun) should know that his position is not a permanent one. If he fails, he will have to go too,” the party leader said. In attendance at the meeting were: GAC members led by Prince Tajudeen Olusi, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, Dr. Yomi Finnih, APC Governorship candidate in the state Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his running-mate, Dr. Femi Hamzat, APC state chairman, Tunde Balogun and executive members, among others. 9. Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Bode George, Wednesday, cautioned National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu against what he described as THE harassment of Igbo residents in Lagos. In a statement, George frowned at the recent use of thugs, hired urchins and low-lives allegedly used to harass and unleash mayhem on the people of the South East in Lagos describing it “reprehensible, condemnable, sickening and very dangerous.” The statement reads: “This clearly ill-advised jungle justice on fellow Nigerians whose offense is basically the fact that they voted according to their conscience is capable of provoking a reprisal attack and a greater cataclysm that may graduate into a fury that no one would be able to control. “Since yesterday I have been talking to various stakeholders from the South East to be restrained and calm and not to let the unfortunate incident widen into another violent scenario that may consume the nation itself. “I am appealing to President Buhari to call Bola Tinubu to order lest his reckless penchant of mobilizing thugs against all perceived enemies does not ricochet into the tragedies of 1962 and 1963 which eventually triggered the Nigerian Civil war. Imo community demands end to political killings “Lagos is a mini Nigeria. It is the most accommodating and the most friendly entity in the Nigerian space. We welcome everyone with vivid embrace and with sincerity of purpose. We are the Nigerian melting pot, encouraging traders and various merchants to bring their gods for sale. We do not discriminate. If we had discriminated against Tinubu himself, he could never have risen to the level of relevance which he has achieved today in our Lagos. “We need peace in Lagos. We do not need hired hands sponsored to disrupt business activities of fellow Nigerians.” Vanguard

Let anybody come out to say I have taken any contract from the government of President Muhammadu Buhari in the last five years,” “They should prove it. I am on my own, and I am committed to my party. So, even if I have money to spend in my premises, what is your headache? “Excuse me, if I don’t represent any agency of government and I have money to spend, if I have money, if I like, I give it to the people free of charge.
