  2. Just days after controversially sporting blue hair during the Manchester derby, Paul Pogba has decided for another new hairstyle. In a social media post, the Manchester United midfielder displayed his new haircut in tribute to animated Japanese character Dragon Ball Z. Pogba recently got slammed by former United player Gary Neville for sporting a blue hairstyle for the clash with neighbours City last weekend. And he is due to receive even more criticism for his latest trim. Last weekend, the former England right back said: ‘I like him, I think he’s a good player, but he doesn’t help himself. ‘If you are a wise individual, you don’t attract attention when things aren’t going your way. Pogba doesn’t work like that. He’s got a big job to do, he’s got to prove he’s serious about his football. ‘Coming here with blue hair today, win it’s fine, lose and that’s going to get mentioned forevermore. It’s ridiculous.’ Meanwhile, Pogba struggled as Manchester United lost 0-1 to relegation zone West Brom on Sunday afternoon at Old Trafford.
  3. Will Ferrell was taken to hospital after an SUV he was riding in flipped over when it collided with another car on Thursday night. The actor was one of four people in the chauffeur-driven SUV when it was struck in the side by a Toyota on the northbound Freeway 5 in Mission Viejo, California, at 10.55pm. Ferrell, 50, was hospitalized along with the two other men and one woman, who was described by witnesses as seriously injured and ‘bleeding profusely’. The driver of the second vehicle was uninjured. The Anchorman star has since been released from the hospital without any significant injuries and is said to be doing well, while the condition of the woman is unknown. Footage obtained by TMZ showed Ferrell sitting upright and talking on his cellphone as he was stretchered into an ambulance. Cops have said drugs or alcohol did not play a role in the incident and no one has been arrested. The SUV was shown lying on its side on the highway along with debris from the accident just south of Alicia Parkway. The car flipped and came to a stop on its side in the middle of the freeway, which had to be temporarily shut down, KTLA5 reported. One person was trapped inside the car for a short period before being removed by firefighters. In audio obtained by TMZ, a first responder is heard discussing the crash with a co-worker, presumably shortly after arriving on the scene. ‘Looks like we have one critical at this time who we’ve already got in an ambulance, and we’ve got one trapped in the car still,’ the caller says.
  4. Nigerian lawyers to earn another $17m from Abacha loot Nigerian lawyers freshly engaged by the federal government to “help” with the repatriation of $321 million stolen by Sani Abacha, former military ruler, will be paid $17 million (over N6 billion) for their services, TheCable reports. This amount is nearly thrice more than what was already paid to Swiss lawyer, Enrico Monfrini, for the same job which he was yet to complete before Nigeria mysteriously decided to engage the services of another set of lawyers. Nigeria’s attorney-general, Abubakar Malami, suddenly appointed Oladipo Okpeseyi, a senior advocate, and Temitope Isaac Adebayo, in 2016 apparently to duplicate the job of the Swiss lawyer. Incidentally, Okpeseyi and Adebayo were lawyers to the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), the legacy party of President Buhari. Malami was legal adviser to the party. “We understand the new lawyers are going to be paid $17 million but we are monitoring the situation closely,” an official of EFCC told TheCable. “If a case of duplication is established, there will be consequences. . This government takes the anti-graft war as a priority, as you well know, and this particular transaction is of interest to us.” Monfrini was initially engaged by the Nigerian government in 2000 and has worked in the recoveries since then. The FG had, between 2013 and 2014, used the services of the Swiss lawyer to recover the funds in Luxembourg.

  9. A few days after the bizarre report that a snake 'swallowed' about N36 million from the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board's vault in Benue State, another state coordinator of the board in Nassarawa state has come up with a rather strange story to back an alleged fraud. This time, JAMB staffer, Labaran Tanko, said his car got burnt and in the process scratch cards worth N23 million were destroyed in the inferno. However, not impressed, as in the case of the Benue saga, the board, reacting through its registrar, dismissed Mr. Tanko's claims. The board said after a thorough investigation, it discovered that the cards which reportedly burnt alongside Mr. Tanko's car were used by students in Nassarawa state to register. It said this was easy to discover through simple checks done by its officials. Mr. Tanko, who made this confession at a session where suspects of fraud and criminality were interrogated by top officials of the board, including Registrar Ishaq Oloyede, however, stood by his claim. "I thank God that I am alive today," Mr. Tanko told the panel. "I had an accident on July 3rd, 2016. I was not the one that packed the cards because I was rushed to the hospital, and they came to pack the burnt scratch cards to the office but it could not be counted. I have the serial numbers of the cards." Until Mr. Oloyede's took over as registrar, JAMB candidates usually purchased scratch cards from JAMB state offices and other designated centers to gain access to the board's website for either registration or to check their admission status. However, new reforms introduced by Mr. Oloyede, when he assumed office in 2016, ended the use of scratch cards, replacing it with a more efficient and effective platform. - Premium Times
