  4. ALTHOUGH HE IS 76 YEARS OLD, THERE ARE NO INDICATIONS THAT PASTOR ADEBOYE FONDLY CALLED DADDY G.O WILL BE RESIGNING SOON. The General Overseer, Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, on Saturday’s night, said God had not revealed to him yet who his successor would be. He stated this at the ongoing ministers’ conference of the mission holding at the Redemption Camp, Mowe, Ogun State. The four-day annual conference is expected to come to a close this evening while the 66th annual convention will start on Monday and last for six days. RCCG is believed to be the biggest Pentecostal mission in Africa with branches in more than 100 countries around the world. According to Pastor Adeboye, God has not told me about any successor at all, whether you believe it or not. “Elijah knew before Elisha knew that he would succeed him, Moses also knew that Joshua would succeed him and likewise Eli knew before Samuel and not the other way round and therefore, God will tell me first before any other person about who will become my successor as a general overseer. “So, those of you who are carrying rumour of who would be my successor or claiming to be the one that God had chosen should desist from such act as God had not shown me anybody yet. ”Some even said I would hand over to Bishop David Oyedepo, some said to Pastor Joe Olaiya because the two are very close to me that they do minister during our major events such as the conventions, Holy Ghost congresses and yet another quarter said one of my sons is the one succeeding me. “But I would advice you to always check sources of your information before believing such information and also to focus on whatever you are doing rather than spreading rumour. “So, let me say it loud and clear again that God has not told me who my successor is. “What God had told me several years ago was that He would tell me who my successor would be at least five years before I would be called home and as at this now, He had not told me anything as regards that, which means He is not ready to call me home in the next five years.” Pastor Adeboye, however, declared that he ‘pity’ who would eventually emerge as his successor because such a person would have to pray more than I do and has to sacrifice a lot also. “Because I know how many hours I pray a day and I can count how many days I eat in a year too. “So, whoever that will take over from me, such person will have to surpass me and God will have mercy on the person.”
  5. A SENIOR PASTOR OF THE LIGHT CITY CHURCH, EGAN BRANCH, PASTOR GABRIEL AJEAGA, HAS BEEN SACKED FOR ALLEGEDLY SLEEPING WITH FEMALE MEMBERS OF THE CHURCH IN LAGOS, ACCORDING TO PM EXPRESS. This was made public by the head of the church, Pastor (Mrs.) Goodness Onyebuchi, at the court during the trial. Revealing details before the court, Onyebuchi said that what informed her decision to sack Pastor Ajeaga from the church was as a result of complaints of his adulterous life as the female members were no longer safe from his advances. The head of the church said that she had to take the decision to save the church and the members from further embarrassment and sexual harassment as she had received several complaints and confessions from members. It was reported that Edo State-born Ajeaga got angry after he was sacked. In the rage, he took a knife and headed to the pulpit to St@bPastor (Mrs.) Onyebuchi and other members during a church service. However, he was prevented from doing so and the knife was recovered from him. He was then handed over to the police at Igando Division for his unruly conduct. It was gathered that Pastor Ajeaga did not spare even the married women in his sexcapades to the extent that he was said to have been eyeing Mrs. Onyebuchi who was also married. The decision by the head of the church to sack the defendant did not go down well with him as he claimed to have been the one that built up the church. He maintained that it was a ploy to send him away at the time the church had grown and that was why he went to the church to cause havoc. He was arraigned before Ejigbo Magistrates court and he pleaded not guilty. Pastor Ajeaga was granted bail but his wife who was supposed to facilitate his bail abandoned him and he remained in prison custody. The wife was said to have believed the allegation by the church, left him to his fate and refused to facilitate his bail. It was on the adjourned date for trial that Mrs. Onyebuchi narrated before the court what transpired before the defendant was arrested and charged to court. She further stated that apart from coming to the church to attack her, that Pastor Ajeaga also bought raw acid which he had planned to pour on her; the raw acid was recovered in his house and brought to the court as an exhibit. During the cross-examination, the defendant denied all the allegation made against him and asked the court for the adjournment to enable him to get prepared to cross-examine the complainant. The prosecutor, Mr. G. Simon, did not oppose the motion as requested by the defendant. Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.K.J. Layeni, adjourned till 16th August, 2018, for the continuation of the cross-examination by the defendant.

A pastor, Joshua Ibeneme, on Wednesday approached an Igando Customary Court in Lagos to end his 21-year marriage to his wife, Uzoamaka, for allegedly having sex with two of his church members who are top leaders. “My wife had sexual affair with two of my church members — a deacon and a bishop. Both were boasting, telling my other members that they slept with my wife because she enticed them. “Whenever I returned from a trip, my last child always told me that men came to pick and drop my wife. Even God told me to divorce her or else she will destroy my ministry,” he claimed. The petitioner said that his wife denied him sex for five years. “My wife starved me of sex for over five years. Whenever I wanted to sleep with her, she would give one excuse or another. In fact, she moved out of my room to a separate room. “But she gives it to my church members freely,” the pastor said. The 53-year-old pastor said that his wife was always mocking and embarrassing him in public, telling people about his sexual performance. He said that Uzoamaka always accused him of having affairs with any female church member who came to the house for counseling. “She accused them of dating me and also went to their houses to fight them. Her behavior and attitude have chased members away from my church,” he said. According to him, Uzoamaka instigated their children against him, they did not respect him and they refused to run errands for him except when their mother permitted them to do so. He begged the court to end what he described as “the loveless union,” claiming he was no longer in love with his wife. However, the respondent, Uzoamaka, denied having sex with their church members but accused her husband of infidelity. “It is women that cause our frequent fighting; they are the problem in our home and my husband’s lust for them is very high. “I never slept with the two men who claimed that they slept with me; they just wanted to tarnish my image. “My husband is dating the wife of the deacon,” she said. The mother of three said that she starved her husband of sex because she hated sex, adding that she married him because she wanted children. The 45-year-old teacher said that her husband became sexually inactive five years ago. “He calls me derogatory names in public such as ‘prostitute.’ I did not instigate the children against him,’’ she explained. She begged the court not to grant her husband’s wish to dissolve the marriage, claiming she was still in love with him. The Celestial Church of Christ has spoken about a 21-year-old man, Sylvester Friday, allegedly used for money ritual by one of its Parish pastors, Steven Babatunde Sh!ttu at Bayan Dutse/Narayi in Chikum Local Government Area of Kaduna State. One of the church’s leaders, Superior Evangelist Sam Atolagbe, who addressed reporters yesterday on the matter in Kaduna on behalf of the church, said the incident that led to Sylvester’s death was an accident and by no means ritual. The death of Sylvester on March 21, 2018, had sparked violence at Narayi/Bayan Dutse community as youths accused the Celestial Church pastor of killing him for a ritual. The church commiserated with the family of Sylvester and insisted that Evangelist Steven was not responsible for Sylvester’s death. It said the deceased and a member of the community had worked with the church as mason on construction jobs for some time now. “On that fateful day, Sylvester was engaged by Shepherd Steven to do a small work by the river bank where the church was trying to control the erosion. “While working, he slipped into a deeper part of the water while the shepherd who was supervising the work raised an alarm. “When he realized that the mason was drowning and the neighbours that came around could not help much, he ran to the nearest police outpost to report the situation,” Atolagbe said.

  17. The general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor E.A Adeboye has spoken against what appears to be the new pattern used by some pastor during anointing. Recently, they’ve been pictures floating on social media showing pastors placing their hands on sensitive parts of their members during deliverance. This has been seriously criticized by Adeboye who says such men aren’t of God. ‘Any man who anoints women on their B.reasts is not from God.The head is the headquarters for the anointing in your body. Search your heart and be honest with yourself if you have missed it in your relationship with God. Holiness is crucial in sustaining the anointing because whenever the anointing dries up, the devil steps in. It is better never to be anointed than to be an ex-anointed. If you abuse anointing, it can destroy you. Samson is an excellent example. To be specially anointed, you must be holy” the clergyman said. Pastor Adeboye, who recently celebrated his birthday was in Benue state where he and his wife paid a condolence visit to Governor Samuel Ortom and held prayers for the state. This is related to the constant attacks on people of the state by the dreaded Fulani Herdsmen which has seen the state hold 2 mass burials in the space of 3 months. The clergyman said, ”The governor is my son, the wife is my daughter and my children cannot be in trouble and I will fold my arms and do nothing. I would have come here before now but was guided by the spirit not to visit Benue before the President. The challenges are enormous but we know who to run to, and that is God almighty”.

  23. A Kenyan Clergyman - Rev. Vincent Mulwa of Christ Pilgrim Restoration Centre, Kenya, has come out to challenge the Christian doctrine that men should only marry one wife. In an interview with Kenya's The Daily Nation, Rev. Mulwa said Africans bought the world views of European missionaries who brought Christianity into Africa and abandoned polygamy, a practice that was rife even among the people who lived during biblical times. Rev Mulwa said he wants Christian leaders to review teachings on monogamous marriages, claiming there is no verse in the Bible supporting it. He says this is necessary to "save a generation of women who are aging in church without husbands". Rev Mulwa added; "I have been in the ministry for 38 years, preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ but now I have realized that we ministers of the gospel have lost our believers," "I have never seen anywhere in the Bible where prophets and preachers prayed for single ladies to get married. The Bible people were polygamous and everyone had a husband," he says, adding that widows were allowed to become concubines. He says polygamy was commonly practiced by many African traditional communities and the Jewish culture was also polygamous, adding that it only began to fade with the introduction of Christianity. "As far as the Bible is concerned, the number of wives or concubines that one has does not matter and is not a standard of holiness. I have come out to tell Christians that we must preach the true gospel and allow our men in the church to marry as many wives as they want. Polygamy is not about men needing many wives but it's about women needing husbands." According to the cleric, the Bible has only come out strongly to condemn adultery, which is taking another man's wife. The reverend argues that the fact that the missionaries, who mostly came from Rome, began to preach monogamy does not mean that this is what the Bible teaches. "It is unfortunate for the Church that today when our dear brothers and sisters attend theological schools, they are fed with so much gentile-tilted theology that upon graduation, they are well equipped to vigorously convince the world to buy into the Roman immigration of Christianity," He says Christianity is not an American or European culture. Rather, it is God's way of reaching and dealing with humankind. Rev Mulwa, who says he is officially married to one wife, says he was preaching in a church he started 20 years ago but had to leave the church because his wife and members disagreed with his polygamy teaching. "I told my wife that as much as she doesn't want to agree with me, I will continue preaching the gospel of polygamy until the whole world hears of it because that is the true gospel," he says. When asked if he has secret wives he responded: "The number of wives I have is not an issue. If I have one wife or more, I will not be holier than the other. That's why I am saying Christian men should be allowed to marry many wives." His interpretation of the Bible is that it has not condemned polygamy. Rather, it was practiced widely by men of God in the Bible. "Polygamy is an acceptable practice. No lady should stay without a husband. Christianity remains the holiest faith, but when preached from the perspective of the European and American gentiles, then it is definitely the filthiest religion on earth." He gives the example of some of the men in the Bible like Abraham and David who married more than one wife and had concubines with whom they got children. "The holiness was in how these men dealt with their many wives and concubines and God had no problem with them," he says. The reverend says it is wrong to imagine that God would have created two wives for Adam as "God created them so that they may fill the world" He noted that in the Bible, some women seemed to have been in a complex situation such that remarrying was out of thought. They ended up being concubines. But even for concubines, there was discipline, he says, and a man found with another man's concubine was to be beaten. "This was a lesser punishment compared to when you were found with someone's wife where the sentence was death by stoning," he adds. Source: nation.co.ke
