  1. Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola took time out to sample the fine dining at his restaurant Tast in the city centre on Tuesday evening. Guardiola was accompanied by his wife Cristina Serra as the pair spent the evening at the eatery famed for its Catalan cuisine. The City boss, along with club CEO Ferran Soriano and director of football Txiki Begiristain, acquired Tast, which is headed up by two Michelin-starred Catalan chef Paco Perez, back in February. The three-storey restaurant boasts a casual dining and bar area on the ground floor, a first-floor dining room and a second floor with private rooms offering a tasting menu. However, the Premier League champions’ title defense got off to a roaring start with a convincing 2-0 win over Arsenal last weekend, which certainly gave Guardiola cause for a night of relaxation.

  3. Premier League clubs have voted against the use of video assistant referee (VAR) system for next season. According to BBC Sport, the decision to vote against the system next season was made at a Premier League shareholders meeting in London on Friday, when all 20 member clubs voted. The clubs came to the conclusion that advanced testing on the use of the video technology will continue to the end of 2018-19. Also the clubs want improvement in communication inside the stadium and for TV viewers. The decision to vote against the video technology was due to some notable high-profile problems with the new technology when it was used for matches in this season’s FA Cup. In Manchester United’s victory at Huddersfield in the last 16 of the FA Cup, for example, on-screen lines used to adjudicate on an offside decision were curved and distorted. A statement said the clubs “recognised and are grateful for the substantial developments made” by referees chief Mike Riley and his team. Meanwhile, the International Football Association Board (IFAB) is expected to approve VAR when it meets in Zurich, in time for this summer’s World Cup in Russia. IFAB technical director and former Premier League referee David Elleray said 40 countries were using, trialling or interested in VAR technology. Germany and Italy introduced VAR across their top leagues this season. In the Bundesliga, technical problems led to 47% of players wanting to abolish the system, according to a survey published in Kicker magazine in January.
  4. ARSENE WENGER SET TO REMAIN ARSENAL’S MANAGER NEXT SEASON ARSENAL MANAGER, ARSENE WENGER HAS SUGGESTED HE WILL REMAIN AT THE CLUB FOR YET ANOTHER SEASON AFTER REVEALING HIS TRANSFER PLANS FOR THE SUMMER Arsene Wenger signed a new two-year deal last summer and will undergo a review of his progress at the end of the current season. But he told the London Evening Standard: “In some aspects of the game there is no need to buy more players at that level, because we have young strikers as well, promising strikers. But we’ll see [about] that at the end of the season.” We have an offensive team,” Wenger said. “That means as well the defenders are not always in the best possible conditions to defend, having to find a better balance in defending. “I think recently we have done well and I believe on Thursday night [a 4-1 Europa League quarter-final first leg win over CSKA Moscow] , physically it was at a very, very high level and players like [Hector] Bellerin and Mustafi had heavy legs today.
  5. Chelsea playmaker, Eden Hazard says the team need to look forward and try to improve in order to ensure we finish the season strongly, Chelseafc.com reports. There was a huge sense of frustration following Sunday’s 1-1 draw at home to West Ham United given the fact they had dominated the game for long spells. Antonio Conte’s side recorded 23 shots on goal, 18 more than the visitors, but were unable to add to the lead which had been given to them by Cesar Azpilicueta, before Javier Hernandez equalised in the second half. ‘When you see the game we did everything, especially in the first half,’ Hazard said. ‘This season isn’t going well, we made some mistakes and conceded a goal. Then, in front of goal we didn’t score, so that’s it, at the end of the game it’s 1-1 and we are all sad. ‘We need to work together. There are six games left to play in the league and we will try everything to be in the top four at the end of the season.’ It was the second time in a row they failed to take maximum points after going 1-0 up. ‘This season a lot of the games have been the same,’ Hazard said. ‘I remember away at Manchester United, we were in control of the game and in the end we lost. Last week against Tottenham, we were in control in the first half and then we lost the game, so this season isn’t going well. We need to work together.’ Sunday’s result leaves them 10 points behind 4th-placed Tottenham in the Premier League table, but Hazard explained why there is still plenty to play for between now and the end of the campaign. ‘I hope, for the Chelsea fans and ourselves, that we can achieve something,’ said the Belgian. ‘We still have the FA Cup to play for so we need to bring this trophy to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season. ‘When you play for Chelsea you want to be in the Champions League every year but last year we didn’t play in it and we won the title, so sometimes a bad thing can create a good thing, but we will play [to try to qualify] for the Champions League, for sure.’
  6. Zlatan Ibrahimovic has told Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, that only winning the FA Cup can save the club’s season. Ibrahimovic left United to join LA Galaxy last month, after making just seven appearances this term, following his return to fitness after a knee injury. The 36-year-old won the Europa League and EFL Cup as well as the Community Shield during his debut season at United. However, this season, the Red Devils are out of all competitions except the FA Cup. Ibrahimovic insists Mourinho is still a winner, but says winning the FA Cup is a must for the Portuguese. “I like Mourinho. He is the Special One. “He likes to win. Wherever he went he won. He made me feel comfortable. He gave me a lot of responsibility. He said to me the only problem he had with me was when could he rest me. “They’ve been doing it good. Let’s hope, there’s one last trophy to play for, and that’s the FA Cup. So hopefully they win it. Last year we had a big success with the three trophies. “With a new team like that – new coach, couple of new players – and hopefully that rings on, because as a top team, like United, you need to keep winning, because that is the status of the club. You need to win. And if you’re not winning, you’re not belonging to the top,” Ibrahimovic told ESPN FC.

The 21-year-old is no doubt a force to reckon with since he joined Leicester City in 2017, as he was named the Premier League’s top tackler half way into the current season. However, Liverpool among-st some other clubs have shown interest in signing the Super Eagles defensive midfielder who has been likened to Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante due to his style of play.
  8. Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West is giving fans a reason to want some slides instead of painted eggs this Easter Sunday. The hip-hop star has launched a new line of Yeezy Season slides. According to reports, the spring/summer-ready foot apparel is now available and going for around $150. Billed as “Grey Flatform Slippers,” these YEEZY Season slides seem to have suddenly appeared at retailer Browns Fashion. Despite never appearing in any YEEZY Season communications or runway presentations, the slides have appeared out of the blue, much like these YEEZY Season 6 boots last week. The design features a moulded footbed and forefoot strap, finished with a grey colorway. Most sizes have sold out, but watch for these to arrive at additional YEEZY stockists in the coming days. 9. German League giants Bayern Munich are reportedly eyeing a summer move for Chelsea striker, Alvaro Morata should Robert Lewandowski decide to quit the club at the end of the season. The Polish forward, whose contract with the Bavarians expires in the summer of 2021, is wanted by Spanish League side, Real Madrid. Meanwhile, the Allianz Arena side have insisted that they will not be bullied into letting their star striker go without giving it a fight. However, they have already began plans to bring in a replacement should the deal pull through at the end of the season. Lewandowski has won three straight Bundesliga titles since he joined Bayern in 2014, and he is said to be seeking a fresh challenge in a different league. In view of this, the Polish striker is expected to hand his club a transfer request despite having three more years on his current contract with the German club side, as he wants one last big move in his career Morata joined Chelsea from Madrid in the summer of 2017, and might also consider a move away from the Stamford Bridge – following his goal drought period of the current season. He kicked off his reign at the west London club with eight goals in his first nine games, after which he went weeks without scoring a single goal for his Premier League side. He however ended his three months goal drought in his side’s 2-1 victory over Leicester in the FA Cup quarter-finals. The 25-year-old was left out of coach Julen Lopetegui’s team that defeated Argentina 6-1 in an international friendly game, after playing 1-1 draw against current world champions, Germany last weekend. Bayern are also said to be interested in signing RB Leipzig striker, Timo Werner, who scored the winning goal when the two sides met in the Bundesliga two weeks ago. Edinson Cavani is another top striker the Bavarians could turn to should Lewandowski leave. Lewandowski has scored 100 goals in 121 appearances for the Bundesliga side in the space of three seasons, while Jupp Heyckhens men remain the most successful German club with 27 Bundesliga titles. They have also won five UEFA Champions League titles, while they boast of several cups in their trophy cabinet.
  10. Brazilian football superstar Neymar has reportedly demanded a pay rise of £1 million-per-week as the only condition for him to stay at Paris-Saint-Germain next season. Last year, Neymar joined PSG for a world record move from Barcelona, but he has been linked with a move to Real Madrid since January 2018. And Neymar has now seemingly used that interest as leverage as he looks to extract a staggering pay packet from his current employers according to The Times. The 26-year-old Brazilian is said to be currently earning massive sum of £537,000-per-week at Paris-Saint-Germain. He is currently injured and was not part of Paris-Saint-Germain’s team that were beaten at home by Real Madrid in their Champions League second leg of the knock out stage. Real Madrid who are the reigning Spanish and European League champions are not currently finding it rosy this season in the Spanish La Liga. Los Blancos have been thrown out of the Copa dey Rey, but they have made it to the quarter final of the 2017/18 UEFA Champions League.
