9jaonline posted a topic in NewsSaudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman has spent the past few days hanging out and taking selfies with celebrities and CEO’s in Los Angeles. The heir to the Saudi throne began his whirlwind trip Monday with a string of meetings with some of the biggest names in the entertainment business, including Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Morgan Freeman and James Cameron. He also had an intimate dinner at Rupert Murdoch’s Bel Air estate, which was attended by Disney CEO Bob Iger and his wife Willow Bay, Universal film Chairman Jeff Shell, Fox executive Peter Rice and film chief Stacey Snider, The Hollywood Reporter revealed. The dinner came at the end of a three-week multi-city trip around the United States by the 32-year-old royal. And on this final leg of the trip, which was his first since taking over as the de facto leader of the kingdom, the crown prince really went all out – booking the entire 285 rooms of the Four Season in Beverly Hills. Bin Salman even booked the 100 luxury suites at the luxury hotel, which charges on average $600 a night per room, The Wrap reported. That means the royal popularly known as MBS will be shelling out at least $171,000 per night just for him and his entourage. No rooms will be available at the hotel Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, according to THR. MBS has already met or plans to meet with a number of big names in Hollywood and the media during his trip, among them mogul Rupert Murdoch, Brian Grazer, super-agent Ari Emanuel, Disney boss Robert Iger, and Oprah Winfrey. On Monday about 20 people gathered at Murdoch’s home in Bel Air, including his wife, Jerry Hall, Warner Bros CEO Kevin Tsujihara, Nat Geo CEO Courtney Monroe and filmmakers Jams Cameron and Ridley Scott, THR reported. The party was social and not political, sources who attended told the website. The evening included a long cocktail hour, during which wines from 87-year-old Murdoch’s vineyard were served. Bin Salman did, though, take a moment just before dinner to speak about reforms in his country – which is coming off a tumultuous few months back in Saudi Arabia. Murdoch then apparently initiated a brief question and answer session with MBS, and the media mogul himself apparently asked some questions about the Muslim Brotherhood. Once the dinner was over several members of bin Salman’s entourage are said to have taken pictures with some of the more notable actors at the event. While in Los Angeles MBS is also set to meet with Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel and producer Brian Grazer. He also has plans to meet Oprah Winfrey. The trip, in its entirety, is apparently an attempt to shore up ties with American politicians and business leaders to make relationships that could turn into potential future investment opportunities. MBS has a habit of reserving every room in a luxury hotel. The crown prince also booked 40 rooms at the L’Ermitage, about a half-mile away from the four-seasons, with each going for $559 per night. That means the Saudi royal will have spent more than $190,000 per night during his trip to Los Angeles. This week, he snapped up bookings for every single room in the Four Seasons Silicon Valley in East Palo Alto, Recode reported. The State Department has asked the hotel to relocate guests so that they could make room for a ‘large VIP delegation,’ according to an email sent by hotel management. ‘The State Department has approached the hotel for a large VIP delegation next week,’ the email read. ‘Due to the hotel’s layout and location they’re adamant that we are the best fit for their high security needs which will be restricting the hotel and all outlets from other guests.’ MBS also visited the Bay Area where he was scheduled to meet tech heavyweights, including Apple CEO Tim Cook, top executives at Google, and venture capitalists. There is widespread hope that the crown prince will open up his country to more Western investment as it seeks to liberalize its laws and develop its economy. In December, Saudi Arabia lifted a 35-year ban on movie theaters. This June, a Saudi law allowing women to drive is expected to take effect. MBS has been on a public relations tour in the US as part of an effort to present a more modern face to the repressive Middle Eastern kingdom.
bobdiva posted a topic in CelebritiesIt is no longer news that actress Funke Akindele has been listed among the full cast of the “Avengers: Infinity War” on IMDb as a member of Dora Milaje. However, the actress is yet to confirm or deny the story even though she and her publicist have been reached for a statement, that notwithstanding, Nigerians have already taken to Twitter to express their excitement. “Avengers: Infinity War” is the most anticipated movie of 2018, according to IMDB, and features Akindele alongside Marvel characters such as Black P@nther, Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow among others. Here are seven things you should know about Akindele’s role in the movie. 1. The Dora Milaje (pronounced dora-meh-LAH-shay) is translated in English as “Adored Ones” 2. In the comics, the Dora Milaje are the personal bodyguards of the Black P@nther, recruited from every tribe of Wakanda. 3. As an ancient tribal tradition, the Dora Milaje are assembled as potential queens for an unmarried king. This is to maintain unity in Wakanda by ensuring the possibility of the king selecting a wife from any of the 18 tribes in the kingdom. 4. It’s customary for the Dora Milaje to shave their heads and have tribal markings. In 2017, Akindele shaved her head. It could be for the role, or not. 5. While most of the Dora Milaje are nameless, several like Okoye (played by Dania Gurira) Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) and Queen Divine Justice are the most prominent. 6. They are the most accomplished female fighting team in the Marvel Universe. With ease, they fought the master Russian assassin Black Widow and almost defeated Storm. 7. The Dora Milaje are trained to kill, but Black P@nther’s orders limit them to just injuring enemies
