  1. Former Arsenal striker, Thierry Henry, has questioned Paul Pogba’s consistency after the Manchester United midfielder endured a miserable afternoon in their 1-0 defeat to West Brom on Sunday. The loss ensured that their rivals, Manchester City, were confirmed Premier League champions. Pogba’s performance was poor compared to last Sunday, when he scored twice to inspire a comeback win against City at The Etihad. Henry, speaking on Sky Sports, said he has learnt a lot about his fellow Frenchman after his latest display. “As soon as the game started, something was weird — the atmosphere of the stadium, the team — it’s so weird from what we saw from that team a week ago. “The commitment, the desire, and I asked if Pogba can do that all the time, the way he played against City. The answer is nope.”
  2. Manchester United boss, Jose Mourinho has lambasted his players for handing Manchester City rivals the Premier League title. Mourinho said the attitude of his players had changed following their victory over Manchester City last weekend. United suffered a 1-0 defeat to West Brom on Sunday evening – a result which handed City the Premier League title. Jay Rodriguez headed home the only goal of the game to keep their faint relegation survival hopes alive. Mourinho told reporters, “I won eight titles and I am not on the moon because I won against Manchester City. “I saw lots of people over the moon because we won against City. “You could see the difference in the attitude to players compared to last week. “We deserve to be punished, but the defeat was too heavy.” Asked if he was frustrated because City won the title on the back of United’s loss, the Portuguese said, “I have won titles, I would not be happy if someone said I won title because someone lost a match. “City won the title because they won more points than everyone else, not tell City they won title because United did not win, it is not fair on them.”
  3. Manchester City Coach, Pep Guardiola has now added the English Premier League title to his previous domestic successes in both Spain and Germany, as the English club has officially been crowned Premier League champions. Without even playing on Sunday, Manchester City won the English Premier League after their nearest challenger Manchester United were shocked with a 1-0 loss at home, to bottom-placed West Bromwich Albion. This is City’s third title in seven seasons and easily its most convincing, with Pep Guardiola’s team 16 points clear and still having five games to play this season. “We’ve won you the league, Manchester City, we’ve won you the league,” sang West Brom’s fans near the end of the game. By completing the job after 33 games, City have emulated the achievement of United, who also secured the crown with five matches to spare in 2001. The Manchester United manager, José Mourinho, said City’s consistency had earned them the title. “Manchester City won the title because they won more points than everybody else, because yesterday they won against Tottenham, because during the season they lost only two matches,” he said. “Our Time. Our City. Premier League Champions 17/18,” City tweeted soon after the final whistle when the fifth English top-flight title of its history was assured. City boss Pep Guardiola had planned a day of golf with his son Marius on Sunday, so the Spaniard might have learned of his first Premier League while on the course. Speaking after the win over Tottenham, Guardiola admitted winning the title in England would be one of the greatest achievements of his glittering career. He won three league titles with Barcelona and twice lifted the Champions League trophy during his Camp Nou reign. The 47-year-old also took the German title three times with Bayern Munich, but he believes the unique strength in depth and physical demands of the Premier League makes this triumph among his very best.
  4. Brazil superstar Neymar has reportedly given Premier League side, Manchester United the go ahead to offer him a deal at the end of this season. The world’s most expensive footballer is currently in his home town recovering from the knee injury he suffered in late February’s fixture against Marseille in a cup clash. Neymar joined the Parisians barely one year ago and he is already linked with away from the Parc Des Princes –with La Liga side, Real Madrid in pole position to sign the attacker. However, the former Santos forward is quoted to have said he wants to join a more competitive league ahead of the coming season. According to Spanish news outlet Don Balon, Neymar has given the Red Devils the conditions to meet before signing a deal with them. Neymar is said to have informed United boss, Jose Mourinho he will head to Old Trafford if the Red Devils spend big in the summer transfer window. The 26-year-old also want the Europa League defending champions to sign Tottenham goal poacher Harry Kane and Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti this summer. Don Balon also claimed that the Brazilian persuaded Mourinho to keep hold of Paul Pogba and David De Gea at the end of the season. Both United players have been tipped to join Real Madrid when this season wraps up next month, and with all these conditions met, the Red Devils would have fulfilled all requirements to sign the former Barca star ahead of Real this summer. Neymar is currently sidelined with a foot injury but the Brazil star is hoping to be fit for the World Cup in Russia this summer. He joined the Spanish League side in the summer of 2013, having spent four seasons at Santos with 54 goals from 102 matches for the Brazilian topflight side. The winger continued his exploit in the La Liga with an impressive run of 68 goals in 123 games for the Catalan club within the space of four years.
  5. Ian Wright thinks Anthony Martial has “fallen off a cliff” at Manchester United and Jose Mourinho would prefer to let him go than Marcus Rashford. There have been reports in the media that both Martial and Rashford are unhappy with their lack of starts this season. Martial in particular has found his opportunities limited as of late, starting just four games since Alexis Sanchez’s arrival in January. And former Arsenal and England striker Wright told The Debate: “He has almost fallen off a cliff with Mourinho and if he had to let one of them [Martial or Rashford] go it would probably be Martial.” Asked whether Martial and Rashford should be thinking about leaving, Wright added: “They should be thinking about it with everything that’s happening and the way United play. “They should be a lot closer to Manchester City with the quality they have got but they have not been able to really express themselves in the way they want to.” Former Manchester City striker Craig Bellamy agreed with Wright on Martial, saying: “I like him but he frustrates me. I watch him and I’m thinking ‘please use your pace, go on the outside for once’. He has all that ability. “To play out wide for Mourinho is a difficult job, he asks a lot, especially going the other way.” Rashford came up through the United academy but was only a late substitute in the derby win over Manchester City last weekend. “I would be worried if he didn’t want to play and wasn’t disappointed with not starting,” said Bellamy. “But I am sure Man Utd are looking at it and thinking ‘he isn’t going’. He might not be getting the game time he wants and maybe not next year if one or two players come in, but he could go on loan and go to a club they want because he is going to be there for the long haul, because he’s that good a player. “If he was available there would be a queue of clubs, top clubs, wanting to sign him. I think he’s going to be a star, one of the top players.”
  6. Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, is to sign a one-year extension to his contract worth £20million. The deal would make him the world’s best-paid manager and keep him at The Etihad until 2020. Guardiola’s current contract expires next summer, but he said to be keen to stay and build on this impressive season, with City close to winning the Premier League. According to the Mirror, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager held a meeting with City owner Sheikh Mansour and chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak in Abu Dhabi last month. City was in the Middle East for four days of warm weather training and it was there where he reportedly agreed to extend his stay. Guardiola took charge of City in the summer of 2016.
  7. Liverpool thrash Premier League leaders Manchester City 3 – 0 in the first leg of their Champions League quarter final clash at Anfield. The Citizens head into the game the favourites considering their League form and the fact that a win against city rivals Manchester United will give them the Premier League title this weekend. And at the end of the first 45 minute, it was Liverpool that walked into the tunnel with their shoulders high on a highly comfortable 3 – 0 lead. Manchester City started the second half with much intensity but they could trouble the formidable defence setup by Liverpool. All eyes will be on the return leg that will take place at Anfield in a fortnight time, but with City trailing by three goals, the tie might just be a mer formality. In other Champions League quarter final clash, Barcelona thrash AS Roma 4 – 1 at the Camp Nou.
  8. Manchester United midfielder Tosin Kehinde appears to have chosen to represent the Nigeria national team. The 19-year-old was born in the Nigerian city of Lagos but is eligible to play for England. However, Kehinde was photographed shaking hands with Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr ahead of their London friendly with Serbia on Tuesday night. Kehinde is eager to play for Nigeria ahead of England. Tosin met with the first vice president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Shehu Dikko, alongside his parents before meeting with coach Rohr. Rated by many as one of the talented kids in the U23s of the English Premier League giants, he presented an Ashley Young jersey to Dikko in the meeting attended by his parents. Rohr is in the London for Tuesday’s international friendly against Serbia at the Hive Stadium. The German is seeking to make it two out of two in this international window, after the Eagles beat Poland 1-0 last Friday in Wraclow.
  9. Manchester United are plotting a £40m move for Ryan Sessegnon this summer to replace embattled Luke Shaw, The Sun reports. According to sources, the England international feels Jose Mourinho is freezing him out and is thinking about complaining to Manchester United chief Ed Woodward, The former Southampton defender was substituted at half time during Saturday’s FA Cup quarter final 2-0 win over Brighton at Old Trafford. Mourinho said he had taken Shaw off because he failed to follow his tactical instructions in the tense match against Brighton. The 22-year-old had to wait until December for his first Premier League start of the season, but then started 2018 by playing five of United’s seven games because of Ashley Young’s suspension. The Sun reported that United have made enquiries on Sessegnon, and has been watched by United in his last three outings for Fulham as they prepare for a potential offer in the summer. The 17-year-old has been attracting interest from all of the top Premier League teams, with Tottenham also tracking the Fulham player. This means that the £80,000-a-week player could be heading for the exit, and his chances of making it to through to the World Cup with England is slim. United will play Tottenham in a semi final FA Cup clash as it is their only chance of a silverware this season after been knocked in the Champions League by Sevilla.a
  10. According to reports, Manchester United star has been dumped by his actress girlfriend after a whirlwind romance. Model Jena Frumes appeared to confirm the split with 25-year-old Jesse Lingard this week in a couple of classy Twitter posts. In the first, the 24-year-old told her 96,000 followers: “At least I can say I tried plus enjoyed the ride.” She followed it up on Thursday, writing: “I love Jesse to death but sometimes the timing is just off.” Jena, no stranger to sharing super-glamorous images of herself wearing skimpy bikinis, appears to have since deleted both posts as they no longer visible on her page. It comes three months after a fan claimed England star Lingard, had cheated on Jena with her after United’s 1-2 derby defeat to Manchester City. Apparently unmoved by the claims, Jena continued to post pictures on Instagram and Twitter, showing her in loved-up poses with Lingard. The pair first met in the US last year or in 2016 and started dating a few months later. They were also seen on a romantic weekend in Barcelona. Now, it seems she’s single again.
  11. Manchester United star Alexis Sanchez was comforting his grieving girlfriend today after she was hit with a bad family news. According to media reports, her aunt’s husband had confessed to shooting her dead. Mayte Rodriguez and her actress mum Carolina Arregui both appealed for information on the whereabouts of Concepcion Arregui after she vanished on February 5. The 59-year-old’s family reported her missing to police after she supposedly took a long-distance coach from her home in Argentina to her native Chile but failed to arrive. The investigation into her mysterious disappearance took an unexpected twist in the last few hours after her husband Roberto Audano, 70, confessed to killing her and burying her body. Argentinian Roberto has now been arrested on suspicion of homicide while police continue their search for his alleged victim’s body in hills near the city of Mendoza where he is said to have told detectives he hid her body. Ms Rodriguez, who spent time with her footballer boyfriend in Manchester recently, took to social media overnight after learning about the shock news to pay tribute to her relative. She wrote alongside a picture of a rose, at the start of International Women’s Day: ‘Us women, who carry human beings in their wombs and feed them in their first days of life and promise unconditional love forever. Fragile and sweet. ‘At the same time capable of enduring the strongest pain. We are not fragile and we are not sweet where there is violence. ‘Protecting another is part of our instincts. Protect and denounce violence. Verbal or physical. National consciousness. ‘A man is no longer a man when he mistreats a woman. With pain, we say goodbye to you today.’ The focus turned to Audano, said to have asked Ms. Arregui, for a divorce after just a year of marriage, when investigators found no CCTV footage to back up his claims he had taken her to a bus station in Mendoza on February 5 so she could travel to Chile to surprise her loved ones. Two pistols and two shotguns were found during a search of his home after his Tuesday night confession to police, who are focusing their search on an area near Potrilleros in the Andean foothills a short drive from Mendoza. Forensic experts are also reported to have found traces of blood in Audano’s truck.

Members of Manchester United’s board regret signing Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal in January, according to El Pais Manchester United caused a shock in the winter window when they swept under Manchester City’s nose to sign Alexis Sanchez Sanchez was widely expected to join Pep Guardiola’s side, but in the end, he moved to Old Trafford in a swap deal involving Henrikh Mkhitaryan. Since moving to United, the 29-year-old has not yet made a huge impression on the team has scored just once in seven appearances in all competitions. According to El Pais, some members of United’s board have told Premier League executives that they regret signing Sanchez for three reasons. The hierarchy reportedly feels that the player would have been much cheaper had they secured his signature in the summer when his contract at Arsenal expired. In addition, it is believed that sections of the club have questioned his high wages amid concerns of unrest within the squad, in particular, Paul Pogba, who allegedly wants a pay rise. The publication states that the third reason relates to Sanchez’s age, with board members feeling that the attacker only has a few years left at this level.
  13. A Nigerian player who is aiming to play for the Super Eagles, Tosin Kehinde believes he is edging closer to a senior Manchester United debut. The 19-year-old footballer is a regular for the Under-23 side under Ricky Sbragia, and has trained with the first-team under the watchful eye of manager Jose Mourinho. Kehinde was born in Lagos, Nigeria, and there is keen interest back in his homeland about when the midfielder will make the step up. He revealed he has not been far away from a first inclusion in a matchday squad and insists that if he continues working hard he will get the chance he craves at Old Trafford. “It feels good to have that kind of support back home,” he told Soccer Assembly. “I’ve come close on occasion. All I need to do is continue to work hard.” Kehinde is eligible to play for either Nigeria or England at international level. But his heart lies with the Super Eagles, who have qualified for this summer’s World Cup in Russia.
  14. Samir Nasri has been banned from football following an investigation into the intravenous drip treatment he received at a Los Angeles clinic. Ex-Manchester City and Arsenal midfielder, Samir Nasri have been banned from football for six months because of a drip treatment he took at a Los Angeles clinic in 2016, his lawyer said. According to BBC Sport, the 30-year-old Nasri took the treatment while on holiday, but it contravened World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) rules leading to a Spanish Anti-Doping investigation. Nasri’s lawyer disclosed that the suspension was being imposed by Uefa. Reports in Spain have suggested the ban will be made public on Monday. Nasri, who is without a club having left Turkish side, Antalyaspor in January, received treatment from a private medical company, Drip Doctors, in his hotel room. At the time he was on loan from Manchester City to Sevilla and posed for a photograph with the organisation’s co-founder Jamila Sozahdah that drew publicity. Wada rules state there is a 50-millilitre infusion limit per six-hour period for active athletes but it was alleged he received 500 millilitres of hydration in the form of sterile water containing micronutrient components. In February 2017, a request by Sevilla for a retroactive therapeutic use exemption (TUE) for Nasri was refused by Uefa, whose decision was later upheld by the Court of Arbitration for Sport. Former France international Nasri’s spell with Antalyaspor lasted only six months after he joined from Manchester City in August 2017. Nasri played for Arsenal from 2008 to 2011 before moving to City for £25m, going on to win two Premier League titles during his time at Etihad Stadium. During his loan spell at Sevilla last season, he made 30 appearances and scored three goals.
  15. Manchester United have reportedly told Real Madrid they would have to cough up £88million if they want David De Gea in the summer. According to Marca, United hope placing a huge price on the 27-year-old, would discourage Real from trying to sign him. De Gea reminded La Liga suitors just what he is capable of, with his wonder save against Sevilla in the Champions League on Wednesday night. The Spanish goalkeeper was set to move to Real for £35m in the summer of 2015, only to see the move collapse in the final seconds of the window. But if the move is going to happen again, it would cost Real €100m (£88m). It is understood that De Gea's value has come straight from the Glazer family, who will refuse to accept anything less.
  16. Manchester City’s unbeaten start to the season has left Pep Guardiola believing that his side are capable of beating anybody. A remarkable opening to the 2017-18 campaign has seen City surge to the top of the Premier League table, while also progressing in the Champions League and Carabao Cup. The likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Napoli have been unable to derail the Blues bandwagon, with confidence now so high around the Etihad Stadium that there is feeling they can overcome any opponent, any time, any place. Guardiola told reporters ahead of a home date with struggling West Ham: “With the confidence, our players believe they can do it until the end. “Liverpool at home, winning at Stamford Bridge, at Napoli, against Shakhtar, gives you confidence. Of course, confidence on its own doesn’t work, but you have to see it, believe it, feel it. “We now have the feeling – wherever we go, whoever we play – that we are capable of winning. And that is the first step to arrive at the end of a competition and to fight to win the title.” Guardiola has enjoyed a glittering coaching career to date, collecting numerous major honours during spells at Barcelona and Bayern Munich. Even he, though, has never enjoyed such a stunning start to a season, with City currently on a record-breaking 19-match winning streak. “When you achieve these types of records, then you know what the target is to break them again,” added Guardiola. “It’s so important to break these little records. It doesn’t count for the title, but it counts for the way we play. “It means that, in the good moments, we win comfortably and, in the bad moments, we keep going.” After facing the Hammers, City do have some testing encounters approaching. A midweek outing in the Champions League will see them head to Shakhtar Donetsk, before returning to domestic competition with a derby against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
  17. Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola said he would like Paul Pogba to play in next week’s Manchester derby at Old Trafford. Guardiola also said he does not believe the France midfielder wants Manchester City players to be struck down by injury. Pogba got a three-match ban for treading on Hector Bellerin during Saturday’s pulsating 3-1 win at Arsenal. He becomes a significant blow for Jose Mourinho with City next on the agenda in the Premier League. City restored their eight-point lead over Mourinho’s men at the summit on Sunday when David Silva’s 83rd-minute volley sealed a 2-1 win over West Ham. Pogba had earlier told the BBC’s Football Focus he hoped Manchester City would “get some very important players injured.” Speaking after the West Ham win, Guardiola said, “Did he say that? Hopefully we don’t have injuries. “I would like it if Paul could play against us because I like to face the teams with the best players possible to see if we are able to beat them. “In the end, I think it was an expression. I’m pretty sure he doesn’t want other players to get injured.
