Mohamed Salah’s superb finish against Manchester City has been voted the UEFA Champions League goal of the week.

The 25-year-old beat his teammate Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, as well as Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid), Luis Suarez (FC Barcelona) and Mario Mandzukic (Juventus) to the prize, which covers all quarter-final matches.

Salah star picked up a loose ball from Ederson Moraes’ save and stylishly chipped it into the net despite the scramble from the Man City defenders, who tried to stop him from scoring.

However, the 25-year-old has now scored 9 goals in 12 matches in the European competition this season, and he will lead the Reds’ attack to face his former side, Roma, at the last four stage later this month.

He has also scored 30 English topflight goals this term and he is on his way to winning the EPL golden boot in his first year in the league – with the likes of Harry Kane trailing him with at least five goals on the chart.

Meanwhile, the Reds will battle AS Roma in the semifinal stage of the tourney after their 5-1 aggregate win over the Premier League champions in April.

They last won the title in 2005 when they came from three goals down to beat AC Milan on penalties in one of the greatest comebacks in club football.

Salah joined Liverpool from AS Roma last summer in a £37.80 million in a five year deal, and barely one year into his contract at the club, Real Madrid are already on his trail.

The Spanish giants are plotting a shocking move for the goal machine this summer, and they are willing to add a player in the deal to land the player.

However, he has scored 40 goals in all competitions for Liverpool this season. He scored 29 goals from 65 matches in his two season reign in Italy.

He won the Premier League title and the English Football League cup three seasons ago at Chelsea, and at Basel, he won the Swiss topflight title.
